Arranging an Appointment
The stay at the St George Lycabettus Hotel, wouldn’t be complete without taking the lift to their Aegeo Spa Lycabettus. After my late breakfast that morning I left the La Suite Lounge Restaurant to meet Christina, the Spa Manager who helped me choose the right therapies, recommending the Hot Stone Massage. In my case though, it was a combination of a full body Massage. The second was the Glow facial treatment. I set my appointment for the following afternoon, showing up several minutes earlier aware that I have to fill up a form with my medical history.
Signature Treatments

Among the signature, the two that stand out and provide absolute relaxation is the Cretan, a deep head-to-toe massage based on Cretan olive oil, as well as the Ancient Greek Massage. The latter offers the benefits of a relaxing massage, followed by the cupping technique that takes away the final remnants of tension from the body. The Manager of the Aegeo Spa Lycabettus, Christina, greets me warmly once again this second time and offers me the same welcoming pomegranate drink I had the previous day, and introduces me to my two therapists, Sotiria and Aristea.

The Treatment Procedures
I had my feet washed in salt water and offered herbal tea before the hot stone Massage. I remember several years back I had a similar somewhere in Europe but the therapist was amateur so it was a disappointing experience for me and whenever I came across it I would ignore it.
The treatment room was tidy with dim light that made the ambience very soothing and relaxing and smelling nice. Now, let me take you through the entire regimen, step by step.

What does a Hot Stone Massage entail?
To start stones are heated. The ones used at the Aegeo Spa are Basalt. They hold the heat better than others. Then Massage oil is applied. At the Aegeo Spas, they use the O. LIVE products, so my therapist poured some of the body oil onto my back. She expertly cupped the stones in her palm and proceeded to the Massage. It is like any other Massage you might have experienced previously but with the added heat from the stones, hot enough that you can feel them without being uncomfortable. You will have the best sleep of your life after this Massage! I had thoroughly a relaxing experience for body and mind and I left the spa feeling like I was floating.
Impressed with the Result
The hot stone Massage I had here, was dreamy. Admittedly, I had no idea what to anticipate, and I wasn’t expecting to enjoy it so much. The treatment is so much more than just hot stones and this time they did not balance on my back even for a second! No, instead they were used to give me a fullback and arm massage. After the one I had here, I have dispelled the myth of a boring hot stone Massage. Not boring at all.
The Glow Facial
When the first treatment was over and was time for my facial skin care treatment, the appointed therapist was Aristea. She first cleansed and exfoliated my face with a cleansing lotion and applied vitamins and a mask. The main ingredients in O.LIVE’s beauty and care products have a sensational scent that helps stimulate and strengthen the feeling of health and rejuvenation. It was evident that Aristea was just as skilful and professional as Sotiria. The result was that my fatigue was gone and the glow to my face was so evident.

With the completion of the facial therapy, I returned to the relaxing lounge for another treat. This time, a bowl of hot water with essential oils to inhale and a cup of green tea.
The Jacuzzi Bubble Bath
I returned to the Aegeo Spa at noon the next day and indulged in their Jacuzzi for half an hour. It is hard not to feel pleasure and relaxation when you are luxuriating in a candlelit Jacuzzi of warm and fragrant froth. This luxurious, spa-like bubble bath experience was a great way to enjoy some quiet, relaxing “me” time.

It is evident that everyone’s scent preference is different, so Christina encouraged me to choose the right to rejuvenate fragrance as I had a busy schedule later on.
The candlelit interior was extremely flattering! The candles in the spa room created a wonderfully relaxing ambience helping me unwind and soothe away any stress.
Now that I had something for my senses to touch, smell, and sight, it was time to choose the sounds bubble bath experience. It is an essential component of the ambience anyway because music does affect the mood. Christina aided me to choose the right music before leaving me on my own to enjoy at full this delightful experience. What a pleasure!
