Amathus Beach Hotel Limassol is a vacationer’s paradise-like resort with a cosmopolitan spirit. It was my choice on this second trip to Cyprus this summer. I was back in May combining business and leisure and the island is still gorgeous in August (but warm!) and ready to welcome you for a sun-soaked holiday full of family fun. Member of ‘The Leading Hotels of the World’ the Amathus Beach Hotel Limassol is not just a superb hotel but the one on the peak that justly competes with its sister hotel the Four Seasons under the management of Muskita Hotels.

Situated right on the coast, close to the heart of Limassol’s highlighted tourist area, with 2,000 meters of sea frontage and 4,000m2 of immaculate sunbathing lawn gardens. It is a stylish and tranquil hotel with something for the whole family. If you have ever wondered if there is enough going on here, I assure you could stay for a month without twiddling your thumbs.

You will be impressed from the moment you set foot inside their opulent, marble lobby. They welcome you with open arms at the reception area with a nice refreshing drink.

Check-in was quick and efficient. Topnotch service, ripples through the veins of every area of hospitality and that set the tone for the rest of my stay.

At the Amathus Beach Hotel Limassol there are different types of rooms including plunge pool suites, junior, superior, family suites, Amathunta and a Presidential suite. The one best for you depends personally on your own preference depending on your budget and the number of people you have along. Their modern, simple fit-out is enjoyable and comfortable to meet expectations of very demanding guests.

What was the Superior Sea view Room 104 like?

My superior sea view room was quite spacious and elegantly designed and featured a comfortable king-size bed and a pillow menu, a luxury you can only find in the best of hotels!

I appreciated the seating space with the two stylish orange armchairs that fitted perfectly with the interior design, but most importantly I loved the views from my balcony which was overlooking the pool, the lush tropical garden and the beautiful Mediterranean coast.  The green surroundings and natural light that flooded my room made me feel so relaxed.

As if plucked right out of a postcard, the iconic view of the tropical garden would find me sitting out by the balcony enjoying the first cup of coffee, much before breakfast.  What a bliss!

I loved waking up early each morning, having my first cup of espresso coffee (requested to have one in my room) from the bed and with no rushing, I would get to the beach for an hour’s swimming and exercise.

The room I have oozes comfort, relaxation and all things a vacation in Cyprus demands. I felt lucky extending my stay for one more night wishing the clock would stop ticking for a week more.

I liked to return to the room and sprawl out on and sink into my bed after a big leisure day between the beach and the indoor pool. The desk area was great for those like me, who mix business with pleasure and need a proper space to work. I appreciated the USB charging ports. Another nice touch was you could control the room’s lighting from either side of the bed. Contemporary elements like this make all the difference to me, as I travel so frequently for work and leisure.

There was a large closet with lots of storage place and big drawers to fit in all kind of belongings. The room came with little extras such as coffee /tea facilities, a fully stocked mini fridge which was kept restocked, and the housekeeping service was one of the best aspects of the room.

Complimentary Treat

A bowl of seasonal fruit was the complimentary treat the first day and another one before checking-out.

The bathroom was compact but in no way cramped, comfortably fitting in a tropical rain shower over a modern bathtub. This time, the set of toiletries my favourite Italian Etro brand, giving that little extra ultimate comfort.

But, what is there to do?

At the Amathus Beach Hotel, there is as much or as little to do as suits you. This time I needed time to myself and I was quite happy holing up in my suite if not outdoors swimming, reading, writing, napping and enjoying quality wine. It is the best place to have a replenishing escape, spend some time resting and recharging.

What is the Garden like?

Surrounded by lush, tropical gardens with the bright blue sky overhead it’s easy to lose entire days swimming and making the most of it and this is what I did while here.

The hotel provides separate space for families with children and at the same time ensures the tranquillity for its adult guests.

Amathus Beach Hotel Limassol

The exotic garden of the Amathus Beach Hotel is a marvel with plenty of sun-loungers nicely set, to provide space between them for that extra comfort, while the two sandy patches connect ideally with the public coastal path which is very popular.

What was the Beach like?

The beach was a sun lover’s haven this time in August when I was here and was right there and very beautiful. With an abundance of watersports close by, the waters calm and crystal, getting there early, meant that I had the beach all to myself. You could request the attendant to cater for the specific sun lounger under a tip if you were to get to the beach much later. However, I never used this service, as I could get my most preferable one without extra effort.

Best time of the day to get to the beach is early in the morning when the sea is still calm the water clear and enjoy swimming at its full. I felt like a holiday, which is rare for me because it usually still feels like work, but even I couldn’t help but switch off and unwind.

The Outdoor Pool

I didn’t use any of the outdoor freshwater pools or the Spa on this visit as I was so much carried away with the beach, but I enjoyed the superb indoor one a lot.

What is all the Fuss about the Indoor Pool and Spa?

The 20-metre-long grand indoor seawater-pool of the Amathus Beach Hotel Limassol (heated the winter months) is extremely popular. Its design is a marvel with floor-to-ceiling windows, overlooking the tropical garden.

How is the Amathus Beach Hotel Limassol Children Friendly?

There is a sandy family area at the beach equipped with beach toys, and another one that combines waterpark-style children’s pool. The Pelican Kids Club programme is bursting with activities both indoors and outdoors and children can participate in several depending on their age and interest, not to mention the babysitting service! Moreover, there is a teen’s entertaining programme with sports and competitions, and while children keep happily busy, parents can enjoy their privacy -guilt-free!

Talk me through the food situation

Guests have the choice of two restaurants. Their interactive show-case Kalypso-all-day-restaurant, but I was pleasantly surprised to have my breakfast at the Cyan restaurant, open for all guests and children above fourteen years of age.

The latter will remain open until the end of September. If you are picky and love good food, the choices you have in both restaurants will make your day!

The Kalypso Gardens Restaurant

It hosts special theme nights while guests can enjoy a lavish buffet each night with live local and foreign performers. The three nights I was there, shows were spectacular and service top notch.

  1. We dined twice at Limanaki everything fresh and the setting unique a few years back. We were staying at the Four Seasons though. Making plans to return to Cyprus again next spring, and plan to book at the Amathus this time just for a change. Nice feedback!
