Feels Like Home!

Aphrodite Beach Hotel – Polis, is a small family business located less than 500 metres from the Baths of Aphrodite and the Akamas Peninsula National Park. If you want to feel like home, there is no other place to be. The secret behind the excellent comments, the popularity of this little family business and the many awards is the result of hard work and respect to customers.

Lounge

Aphrodite Beach HotelAphrodite Beach Hotel happens to be one of my favourite family hotels in this part of the island and I keep coming back for the last 8 years. Very easily, I dare call it “home”. I am so happy to be back for 4 nights once again at this property on this last 5-week trip of mine to Cyprus.

Gregoria the owner is like a sister to me and a good friend by now. I was greeted as always warmly and offered a turkish coffee and cold water. She escorted me to my room which was actually one of the suites located above the main building where her own ‘home’ is. Truly a welcoming surprise that I highly appreciated.

 Room

Aphrodite Beach Hotel LatchiMy room this time is above the main building and not on the wing with the rest of the hotel rooms. I have the corner suite, with double glazed windows and protecting nets. The highlight of this suite is the breathtaking view from the common big terrace.

Aphrodite Beach Hotel The ladies who cleaned up the room for years now are punctual, friendly and discreet. There are times they care to put a flower or two in the room for that extra touch of service. The white linen were fresh and crispy and the king-size bed was comfortable and relaxing.  I am glad I don’t have to use the air-conditioning as the weather is lovely and I keep the door-window that is equipped with net, wide open through the night. There is nothing like the sound of waves splashing against the shore during the evening. Wi Fi is complimentary and fast throughout the premises.

Aphrodite Beach HotelThe bathroom was tiny but functional with a walk-in shower cabinet. The little stand on the wall (open cupboard) was handy enough as I could neatly store all the little tubes and brushes, we ladies usually carry along. The hotel does not provide toiletries so have this in mind and carry your own.

Aphrodite Beach Hotel

Common area

Aphrodite Beach hotelThis smartly furnished spot is a common area. Personally I never bothered to sit out here or switching on the TV, but nevertheless, it is still a very inviting part of the upper floor.

During my stay, I did not come up with anybody up here as the beauty around does not keep you indoors. I only keep my coffee/tea facilities on the kitchen bench and I store some fruit and water in the mini refrigerator.

Playground

Aphrodite beach hotel LatchiThe kids’ playground is part of the gardens but you scarcely see children playing. This is because most guests coming here are naturalists and they don’t have children along. I assume it was meant for the family’s children who don’t use it anymore.

Beach

Aphrodite Beach Hotel, LatchiThe pebbled beach overlooks the Baths of Aphrodite, and the waters are very different to those in Paphos!

Aphrodite Beach Hotel I enjoy endless hours on the beach sunbathing and swimming. Naturalists mostly and small groups of Yoga fans are the people I come across each time I am back. The Aphrodite Trail is close by. Be sure to have a look at the article about the Adonis Nature Trail Polis from my stay in spring.

Aphrodite Beach HotelHow I love the beach at this specific spot! Crystal clear waters and the marvel was that the weather was exceptional. Besides hotel guests it is a favourite beach for many locals who live in Polis, Paphos and the suburb villages.

It is a pebbled beach so do carry along a pair of swimming shoes. Don’t expect shallow waters in Latchi and kids should be supervised. Depending on the season, you might be lucky enough to come across turtles as they come out to lay their eggs on the beach.

Aphrodite Beach Hotel

Restaurant

Aphrodite Beach Hotel Breakfast is taken on the upgraded terrace which enjoys the most stunning and breathtaking views of the bay of Polis. At breakfast there is ample of choice, great coffee and everything you expect to find out of such great family business. The owners cater for the best quality and always with fresh ingredients. I love the super quality and varieties of homemade marmalades, each with its own distinctive flavour.  I don’t have a sweet tooth but here I can eat everything with pleasure.

The Chef caters for both Meat and Seafood lovers. There is always the a la cart option, but I can’t see the reason to skip the buffet for the a la cart, unless there is a serious reason  for something particular. There are a few Salads, Appetizers and two or three options of homemade pastry and cakes each day. The seasonal fruit served are mostly picked from the family’s orchards.

Sunset

Aphrodite Beach Hotel LatchiVerdict

The hotel stands out for first class customer service, authentic Cypriot hospitality and unique location. Hospitality is such that through the years that I keep coming back I feel part of the family. Guests are mostly naturalists who love trekking, yoga, and outdoor sports in general. There is no swimming pool but who needs a swimming pool if nature provides such crystal clear waters….the best probably in Cyprus!
