The best place to stay in Sofia the Novotel Hotel can easily become your best pick because it deserves it! I reached out the Novotel Sofia hotel because it was recommended to me by a friend who regularly visits Sofia. The capital of Bulgaria keeps surprising me with the progress that has been made through tourism the last couple of years, and I keep coming back to see family members who temporarily stay here. On this last visit, I combined work with business and decided to experience at least one stay in this business-like hotel, even though not central.

When choosing a hotel, I spend time doing my research and prefer to trust personal recommendations rather than opinionated Novotel Sofia TripAdvisor stories. Novotel Sofia hotel is a new stylish hotel adjacent to ‘The Mall’ which happens to be the name of the shopping center by the way! Novotel Sofia address is 115 N Tsarigradsko Shosse Blvd, 1784, and 10 m from the European Trade Centre.

Best Place to Stay in Sofia

Incidentally, the Mall provides parking space for the hotel’s clients, so it was easy to park our car and take the lift up and get straight to the ground floor. There is a relaxed hotel vibe that hits you as soon as you enter the building. The lobby is bright and inviting, with open space and nicely furnished with lots of different seating areas …a great first impression!

Heading to the (minimally designed) reception desk, I received a warm welcome and began the check-in process. The 4-star Novotel Sofia hotel packs a solid punch in the interior and exterior design. My request was to check-in much earlier if possible, due to an appointment outside the hotel later that day.  After checking in, with the key card in hand but without being escorted, I got to the room which was on the 15th floor.

An Executive Room

The executive corner open-plan room on the 15th floor of the Novotel Sofia hotel was very spacious, nicely designed and I felt great entering it.

The room featured a comfortable sitting space with a rotunda table for four, two sleeping sofas with pull-out beds, one by the rotunda table and the other stretched across the width of the bedroom. The couches could fit four kids if all opened.

I had a fabulous view of the Vitosha Mountain from the corner desk opposite the bed, and the several side windows overlooked the bustling street below, but it never felt too noisy.

The plush king size bed which I had all to myself, had plump pillows and bright bed linen, which I couldn’t wait to dive in to. I slept incredibly well through the night, and the pillows were just great.

The massive closet of the executive room had the perfect size to fit all belongings, a hairdryer, robes, and slippers. A big flat screen television installed on the wall opposite the bed, a safe, a Nespresso machine, coffee/tea facilities, and a complimentary minibar. Complimentary drinks, wine, and nuts.

The complimentary treat was a thoughtful touch. Of course, WIFI Internet access was free. The room continues the modern theme of the hotel, with the guest information and in-house dining menu via the smart television and -My Menu app.

Sofia Airport and the City Center are a 10-minute drive away. A Novotel Sofia Airport shuttle is available every 1 hour for an additional €6.00. I trust the Novotel Sofia shuttle will drive you to the city center faster and safer!

A surprise innovation in the compact bathroom was the frosted glass that separates the bathroom and sleeping area!

There was no bathtub, but I did not mind, though I know it is an essential feature for several. Instead, there was a walk-in cubicle with rainforest shower and a semi-enclosed toilet. The central wash basin was modern and there were plenty of branded toiletries on the side for that extra pampering for guests which I highly appreciated.

Breakfast

At 9:30 a.m. sharp I headed down to the ground floor to the restaurant of the Novotel Sofia hotel to have my breakfast.

The spread was extensive, but this time I was not in the mood of ordering an omelet, so I made my choice and enjoyed it over checking emails and keeping in touch with friends and family members.

The Bar

A very notable feature of the hotel Novotel Sofia seems to be the bar but being on my own on this very short stay, I did not get to it since I had everything I needed for free up in the room.

Neither had I the time to experience or appreciate other facilities offered, all the small details in this hotel, but I had a look in one or two state-of-the-art conference rooms on the first floor which were well equipped, had plenty of light, great view and looked great.

Verdict

You cannot go wrong with the Novotel Hotel in Sofia. My short stay was flawless -why not yours? For the business client, it is a beautiful place to host corporate events and is well known all over Sofia, like a great hotel to stay during business trips. Family friendly as well, the Novotel Sofia takes into account children too. There is a kids’ zone with an electronic dart board and an X-box station with a choice of exciting games. Without a doubt, I can highly recommend you to make it your choice if you ever visit Sofia.
