Cyprus most popular beaches are without a doubt scattered all over the island. From reef diving to cave diving, wreck diving to open water dives, there is so much to see in the clear, warm waters of the island. Of course, the notion of the ‘best beach’ is somewhat subjective. You see, it is very dependent on what you expect from it, so check the list to spot the one that fits your preference.

Finikoudes Beach

Finikoudes Beach is sandy, named after the small palm trees planted here back in 1922 and bares a Blue Flag status. It is considered popular and the heart of Larnaca town is just behind the beach. The waters here are calm enough and shallow for youngsters to paddle and swim with adult supervision. Beach facilities, umbrellas, sunbeds water sports are available, as well as a small fun park with an arcade.

Mackenzie Beach

Mackenzie Beach is sandy with shallow waters in Larnaca, stretching almost for one kilometer. A well-equipped and organized beach with lifeguards at some points, with beach sports, café bars, and restaurants around, easy to get to and ideal for families. Lots of people partying directly on the beach. The area is full of café bars and restaurants.

Landa Beach

Landa Beach is also is also called ‘golden sands’ and has clear turquoise waters. Located between Nissi beach and Macronissos beach with lifeguards, shallow crystal waters ideal for kids and not only! It gets crowded during the high season, but it is not that crowded like Nissi beach.

Nissi Beach

Nissi Beach is the most popular in Ayia Napa. White sand and gorgeous lagoon, great for walks; views are endless, with all facilities, toilets, bars, restaurants, watersports etc. The only downside is that it is crowded and noisy and sunbeds are inches from each other. It seems to be more of a party place; loud music and noise.

Vrissi Beach

Vrissi Beach is one of the most popular beaches of Protaras, awarded for its natural water beauty.  A long stretch of sand with no discernible markers between the sections. A wooden boardwalk at the back of the beach makes it easy to wander from one part to another. Shallow water and a gentle, shelving coastline make Vrissi ideal for families with children, as does the almost endless array of watersports on offer.

Fig Tree Beach

Fig Tree Beach is one of the premier beaches on the island in Protaras. The long crescent of soft golden sand is lapped by clear, shallow water, safe for children to paddle while adults indulge in all manner of water sports. An islet at the north end of the bay help the sea calm and is close enough to swim to. Inevitably it gets packed during the high season. The beach has Blue Flag status so the sands are clean and there are lifeguards on duty for much of the summer season.

Governor’s Beach

Governor’s Beach is off on the Limassol to Nicosia highway. The white rocks’ beach is ideal for snorkeling and is separated from the more tourist visited section and less crowded. To come here, overpass the fish restaurants and get to the dirt road without turning left. The road’s condition is fairly good and runs about 3.5 km of coastline. If you explore a little there is always a private bay to set up a base, park your car and walk to the seashore.

Kato Paphos Beach

Kato Paphos Beach is mostly rough and the water is seldom clear with lots of weed on the shore. Tourist hotels have mushroomed along the coast but most tourists prefer the swimming pools instead. There is however, a palm tree-lined promenade which is very popular that curves right around the bay edged on one side by the busy main road and with a concrete wall on the seaward side. The promenade ends at the picturesque, traffic-free harbor area.

Coral Bay Beach

Coral Bay Beach is quite popular and it is 4km north of Paphos, in the municipality of Peyia. A sandy bay with calm waters and all sorts of water sports certified as a Blue Flag beach.

Polis Beach

Polis Beach is in the popular thriving tourist resort of Polis Chrysochous in Paphos. It has a few pebbles and it is municipal and organized beach with lifeguards, toilets, and beach facilities backed with pine woods and variety of restaurants and bars in the round area. The beach offers disabled access, including a special chair to help disabled get in the water.

Latchi Beach

Latchi Beach is located close to the small port in the area of Polis Chrysochous which is about 45 minutes from Paphos and only 5km from Polis. This beach combines sea and mountain and it is extremely popular. Pebbly, deep with crystal clear waters, with lifeguards at some points and restaurants close by. The beach is definitely worth the drive. The scenic beauty of the area is spectacular with coastal cliffs at Cape Pomos with pine and cedar forests carpeting the mountains behind.
