Fish Tavern I Skyros in Kymi sits right by the coast, 150 metres after the entrance of the port and is attached with the Sorokos Fagopoteion in Kymi. The outdoor seating just like most of the taverns and restaurants in Kato Kymi overlooks the clear turquoise water of the bay, while the blue and white colour of the décor shouts out for authentic Greek cuisine!
On this third consecutive night that we are eating out, I considered excluding the meze and ouzo this time and go for something different. Home-cooked food taste and family recipes! It was sure that the fish and seafood of the Fish Tavern I Skyros in Kymi would be fresh, so I totally relied on what the owner Soulla would recommend, just for a change.

Restaurants on the waterfront are especially attractive as they combine the enjoyment of food with the pleasure of a sea view. What makes dishes remarkable is the art of preparing them fresh to enhance their taste, and at this restaurant, we found all that, plus lovely presentation.
The Salads
To get the meal started, we had our salads served first. You know how important it is to start the meal with a great first bite.
The flavour-packed dish of the-fresh-from-the-garden Tomato Tuna Salad garnished with fermented pickled cucumber and caper leaves, red beans and Florinis red pepper had an incredible refreshing flavour.

The Armirikia salad was just as great! The tiny green leaves were boiled to perfection with the right balance of salt, sprinkled with virgin olive oil and lemon. Simply delicious!
Main Course
One of my favourite dishes of the evening, the Peskandritsa Stew (Monkfish) The Stew had a slightly sweet flavour; onions had a mellow, balanced aroma and the Monkfish firm in texture, braised gently to melting tender was out of this world! Tonotigania; pan-fried fresh Tuna squares in virgin olive oil were rich in flavour and taste, and we liked it a lot, not to mention that it pairs just as well with Ouzo meze.
The second best, the local cheese pie the ‘Tiganopsomo’ in Greek, was not only tempting as a presentation but was exquisite in taste, bursting with flavour! Tasting all these specialities was another memorable experience. Throughout the meal, the staff were especially assertive and very friendly.
Beverage
We accompanied our meal with a local white wine from Santorini.
Bottom Line
At the Fish Tavern I Skyros in Kymi, fish is a way of life and prices are reasonable. The combination of unique Mediterranean flavours of fresh seafood, the taste, the friendly service and cost, and the relaxing atmosphere, combine to make any experience here, memorable.
