Grand Bleu Beach Resort is one of the most popular family-friendly beach hotels in Evia, with many repeaters and continues to keep its high standards and value through the years. It comes down to excellent management, offering outstanding customer service. The Resort is just 2 km from beautiful Eretria and a 2-hour drive from Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport.
Check-in
We arrived a little after 14:00, went straight to the parking lot of the resort to park our car and headed to the reception desk. Efficient in every way, the front desk staff welcomed us warmly and once again our check-in was smooth and swift. It is a 4*star hotel with services and amenities of a 5*star property.

Lobby
Simplicity is not only aesthetic value, but it has a moral perception. The lobby has the feeling of the Greek Islands style décor, minimal interior bright and airy in every way.
Room
A minimal basic room, average in size, impeccably clean with an open cavity wardrobe, equipped with a mini-fridge, a small safe box, and a perfect working air conditioning. The double bed was comfortable enough too!
Located on the left-hand wing of the main building, not with a direct view of the beach and garden, yet its tiny corner balcony overlooked the Beach Bar and the Pool.

During this first night, we did not make use of the Wi-Fi, either the TV which was very small, but I don’t think there would be guests who would use the TV with all the activities offered out here, anyway!
Bathroom
The bathroom might have been small but was functional and we did not mind as it was impeccably clean with bright towels, changed daily if you just let the housekeeping staff know. No shower cap or toiletries provided other than a tiny tube of shampoo per person daily, so with this in mind, assure that you carry along your own.
Bungalows’ Wing
I happened to be at the reception desk early the first morning and overheard that a bungalow room was free, so I arranged to move out there to check this type of rooms as well. Same amenities but slightly bigger and although it overlooked the parking lot we had no problem since we used the room only to have a shower and get some sleep. Most of the time we were out enjoying the beauty and facilities of what the resort provided.

In fact, we liked the idea that the room was at the back, assuring privacy and tranquillity for us, although all rooms have double glazed windows to keep sounds away. As for the housekeeping, it is prompt. The ladies clean daily, towels are replaced upon request, while linens every three days.
The corner shower-base with plastic curtain is small and perhaps inconvenient with the oversized persons, but we had no problem. The hands’ basin tiny yet no complaint as the shelf provides plenty of space to place your toiletries on. The room’s hairdryer was highly appreciated as well.

Amenities
Guests have the opportunity to rent a car directly from the hotel, buy souvenirs and newspapers, even jewellery. Residents can also participate in the different excursions provided, depending on their likes and budget, and explore the round area.
Beach
Grand Bleu Beach Resort is well organized when it comes to beach sports facilities, sunbeds and umbrellas. Guests enjoy water skiing, banana, canoe, windsurfing, kite-surfing and fishing. For the first couple of meters, the coast is kind of pebbly but after that, is pure sand.
Beach Bar
The Beach Bar remains top in the likes of guests. If you are one of those lucky ones to be on an all-inclusive, you would return here at regular intervals to get your free cups of coffee, ice cream, cakes, drinks and lovely cocktails any time of day till midnight when the shows are over.
Adults’ Pool
Both the adults’ and the children’s pools are extremely popular, attracting mostly families. The pool area is full of summer vibes, music, dancing, games and quizzes and all these under the supervision of the incredible animation team who deserve a huge bravo. They are a credit to the hotel, -extremely active, happy people, smiling and discreet.
Garden
The garden of the Grand Bleu Beach Resort is beautiful throughout, well equipped and maintained for the comfort of guests with appropriate garden bamboo loungers and hammocks.
Theme Nights
The Animation team here, is a bunch of happy youngsters, several professionals. We really admired their dedication to making the guests live the Greek summer vibes and participate in the plethora of their activities.

All-inclusive
All-inclusive is highly recommended! We tried it this time and were not disappointed at all. No need to get outside and search for a restaurant or a coffee shop when you have everything out here at the Grand Bleu Beach Resort in Eretria.
You have more than you can think of and the cuisine offers fresh food daily, not to mention several of the products are their own produce.
Main Restaurant
There are a plethora of options at breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Main Restaurant where everything is prepared in their own kitchen.
Meals vary with meat options and fish, several salads and dips, and there are cakes, pastries, biscuits and ice cream for those having a sweet tooth, seasonal fruit for the rest. Wine, from the neighbouring winery, is complimentary, and good as well.
Quantity and quality are extremely good -for every taste, made with love and in case of any special requirements, only ask and rest assured it will be catered for!
The waiter staff make all the difference, friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. They are a credit to the hotel and add real value to what is a quality experience. Extra credit I give to Niko, Katerina, Eleni and Despina.
The Bleu Tavern
Get to the Bleu Tavern to try exclusively a la carte Greek delicacies and to experience a typical Tavern for lunch or dinner. Mind you, the cost of the dishes is extremely reasonable.
Weddings / Special Events
Weddings are big and long in Greece, what better than to tie the knot in the Grand Bleu Beach Resort at their own Chapel and have a post-nuptial party on the grounds of the Resort right on the beach!
My Verdict
The Grand Bleu Beach Resort gets a tick as a perfect beach retreat and stands out for its personalized service, being child and baby friendly, for its quality food as well as its excellent location. Perfect in every aspect, much better than some 5*star hotels that just have the name and nothing else! The place runs like clockwork all year long! If you have not as yet decided, I urge you not to hesitate. The affordable rates here, are a challenge. Just pick the phone and make your reservation directly with them.
