Hilton Athens – Greece is the most recognized hotel brand in the world. I am back to the Hilton Athens again this year for a three-night stay on a business trip. The name on its own stands for consistency in quality. The Hilton is located near the Evangelismos metro, only 1 station away from Syntagma Square.

Hilton Athens Lobby

While the impressive Athens Hilton is one of the city’s venerable architectural landmarks, it has also been kept up to date with a modern, clean-lined, and minimalistic design. The lobby is a vast expanse of white marble punctuated by sleek, mod benches and on the whole, it gives the feeling of luxury found in 5-star hotels.

Check-in was up in the executive wing and was quick and efficient. The executive lounge is on the same floor so we stepped in for a drink while our luggage was carried to the suite.

Hilton Athens Room #1006

Our room #1006 was one of the Executive suites and enjoyed a panoramic view of the Acropolis. Interiors in general here at the Athens Hilton, are fitted out in light wood, brushed metal, etched glass and crisp white duvets. Facilities are business-oriented.

As Blue member in HHonors, I was entitled to free Wi-Fi at 3Mbps for access throughout the hotel, but had I wished more there was a daily extra charge.

Our complimentary treat was a small bottle of red wine, some fruit and a local delicacy along with a welcoming card from the management. Thank you, Athens Hilton!

View from the suite

I cannot easily call this room luxurious but the suite overlooks the Acropolis and when the evening falls, the view is breathtaking.

Bathroom

The interior was covered in white marble. There were a walk-in shower and a separate marble bathtub which we never used. We could have used it perhaps if it was a Jacuzzi, but in this case, the shower stall was more handy and functional.
The interior was spacious enough, impeccably clean with the outstanding Peter Roth products which I like a lot.

Hilton Athens Executive Lounge

In the afternoon we headed up on the 11th floor to the Club lounge where we had some snacks and beverages. I returned more or less out of curiosity for the evening hors-d’oeuvres and happy hour before dinner.

The food in the evening is quite extensive and they usually offer a large selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for your pleasure. Definitely worth the little extra of private check-in and check-out at the stylish reception area of this upper floor. The team, as always handy around to assist with restaurant recommendations, sightseeing planning, and airline re-confirmations.

Hilton Athens Outdoor Pool

All guests staying in suites or executive rooms, as well as Silver, Gold and Diamond HHonors members, have free access to the Hiltonia facilities. For all other guests, an extra charge applies for the indoor pool. Being a member of HHonors, on my last visit, I had not totally enjoyed the benefits of the Spa, due to lack of time. On this visit though I spent at least 2.5 hours out here where I managed to soothe away all stress.

I did not arrange to have a massage session as they were fully booked. Instead, I started with a leisurely dip in the heated indoor pool, used the jets a lot and later on the Jacuzzi and Steam room.

Hilton Athens Indoor Pool

I had enough time to relax in a deck chair and chat for a while with members (locals) who are here daily to exercise and keep fit. Indeed what a lovely way to keep active out here especially if you live in the round area!

Vizantino Restaurant

Athens HiltonWe had our breakfast at Vizantino this time and the selection here as always was extensive, with the staff making the difference.

Out of the a la carte we had a nicely presented omelet of our choice brought to the table, Belgian Waffles, Cupcakes, and several more.

Hilton AthensThe service was beyond excellent. Chrysa, Christina, and Dimitri were there for us, ready to help and recommend alternative choices thus making our first meal of the day way more interesting.

Everything was fresh, tasty and extremely tempting. We enjoyed immensely our American breakfast that morning.

Galaxy Bar – Hilton Athens

A glass of champagne at the Galaxy Bar before dinner

Later on, in the evening we had a unique dining experience at the Galaxy once again this year, where we enjoyed several authentic Mediterranean flavors.

Verdict

All in all, the Hilton Athens is a solid, reasonably priced and well-located hotel, with lots of space for events, especially for business travelers. During our stay, we enjoyed exceptional personalized service. Ultimately, if you are looking for a reliable hotel within easy reach of the sites of Athens, the Hilton is a perfect choice.
