Kastelorizo Group Restaurants are some of the best in Athens. Orizontes is located at the highest point of the Lycabettus Hill. If you had time only for one day in Athens and had to choose the loveliest spot to intrigue your palate, this specific restaurant should not be missed!
With a bird’s-eye view over the dazzling city of Athens spreading below, a visit and meal at the Orizontes is a fabulous idea.
I am pleased to visit three out of nine restaurants of the Kastelorizo Group and believe I will have the opportunity to visit a few more through the year.
Kastelorizo Group – Orizontes Lycabettus
I was here in the capacity of a food critic curious to see what the new menu has to offer. The time of visit matched with our stay in Athens and arranged to get there earlier to take some photos.
We stepped into the discreet luxury and festively decorated dining room and felt the same vibes of the classy and elegant interior and pleasant ambience. The staff welcomed us warmly and escorted us to our reserved table. Like the rest of the diners, we could not leave our sight from the window.
The stunning Acropolis glittered below, and beyond, and the City of Athens unfolded like a map out to the Saronic Gulf and Piraeus in the distance. At times like this, I wish the clock would stop.

The Cuisine of Orizontes
Inspired mainly by seafood the Kastelorizo Group Restaurants pride for their high-quality raw materials, discreet sophisticated service and Mediterranean cuisine. The gourmet cuisine of this restaurant centres on Greek flavours with classic traditional dishes with a slight twist.
We enjoyed the amuse bouche, beyond a dish of olives and different types of freshly baked bread rolls, all great in taste! The velvety Bouillabaisse soup was exceptional with flavours sublime, exploding in the mouth.
Appetizers
The ‘Tsigareli’ with the sautéed squid tasted fabulous. What a refine taste delicacy! The squid was flavoursome and juicy, the greens perfect and the presentation tempting.
Mushrooms are my absolute favourite dishes. The variety of sautéed with prosciutto Mushrooms here at Orizontes Lycabettus Restaurant had earthy, little meaty and nutty flavour. You will love this dish. Go for it!
Salad
The Beetroot salad is on its own a wonderful dish. Mixed with yoghurt and walnuts stands in toasted bread from carob. So refreshing and yummy!

Service
Service was efficient, and throughout our dining experience, the professional team served us in a timely way.
Main Course
The tradition of fresh fish, the quality of the raw materials and the delicious dishes, are reasons that make the Kastelorizo Group unique. The Croaker bourdeto of Orizontes Lycabettus was the winning dish of the evening. Popular in the island of Corfu did not disappoint. With a slightly sweet flavour with round balls of potatoes, the sheep cheese exploded its fairly spicy taste. Highly recommended!
The Chicken dwarf presentation and flavour satisfies the senses and makes a nice choice. Thumbs up!
Beverage
Our choice was an extra dry sparkling wine with a mellow, elegant taste, slightly fruity.
Dessert
After the shockingly tasting experience, we opted for dessert. The Crushed Millefeuille with vanilla ice cream was finger licking good!
The Chocolate trilogy with peanut ice cream had the right balance of sugar. Both choices were remarkable in taste, flavour and presentation.
Bottom Line
Kastelorizo Group won’t let you down. The quality of the food, setting and staff here at Orizontes gave a real high-end experience. It offers very reasonably priced set menus for two. You will never have enough of it, no matter how many times you return. The memory of the food will stay for sure with you forever. Hurry, make your reservation directly with the restaurant much ahead for the festive season!
