Value & Location!

Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Centre offers 5*star accommodation and a heated rooftop indoor pool. Featuring modern decorative features, and carpeted flooring, the rooms overlook Liangma River or Beijing City. Chaoyang area is a great choice for travellers interested in history, shopping and food.

Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa CenterCentrally located in the diplomatic district of Chaoyang, Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Centre was the choice of the travel agency that arranged the accommodation of our group to be here. Upon entering, you’ll immediately notice the lavish lobby. In the evening with the lights on it looked luxurious. It is one of the few in Beijing that provides natural light to enter the foyer through the huge glass roof. The marvellous décor is complete with mahogany, teak, as well as expensive designer leather sofas. The warm and welcoming staff make this a great place to spend time in and actually the lobby was our meeting spot each morning.

Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Centre

Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa CenterKempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Centre was built to highlight the best of German hospitality and to make it home away from home for German and Swiss executives coming to Beijing for a business trip. It has been the crew base for Swiss International Airlines, and Lufthansa German Airlines, however, it can be safely said that the hotel’s rooms seem to have seen their heydays of yesteryear.

Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Centre

Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa CenterThe ambience, the smell, and general aroma have faded in time, and it’s clear to see. The flare of elegance however still exists. Although the hotel is a bit dated, they do make up for it with near immaculate cleanliness and impeccable service and familiarity. The cost is rightly cheaper than the surrounding hotels and it is right on the subway and next to a plethora of things. As for the Airport, it is a 20-minute drive away and Beijing Railway Station, a 30-minute car journey.

Room

Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Center Phone +00 86 10 6465 3388It is the first time ever I did not bother taking photos of the room interior. It was the funky Chinese-style with back wardrobes, black wooden beds, a room fairly forgettable. I felt it had such negative energy with all the black all over. What was the point of carrying along a photo of such interior! Our beds were two singles when we expected a double but we would find two miniature masks on each bed every evening we were back from the day’s tour. By the time we left the hotel for the next destination, our group had a nice collection of these masks to take back home.

Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Center On the whole, the room was impeccably clean, we had a safe, a minibar, a hairdryer, and tea/coffee facilities. How I loved to enjoy a glass of green tea when back to the room after a whole day’s sightseeing tour! As for the bathroom, they don’t provide a separate tub and shower like in most 5*star hotels, but it was average in size, with towels with plenty of toiletries.

Breakfast

Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Center Phone +00 86 10 6465 3388We had our breakfast in the main dining room which was always busy, and everything was available and good. Breakfast caters for all, from east to west, and is top notch. Daily after breakfast, our group was out on a day’s sight-seeing tour. We would return quite late at the hotel and well-fed as well since we had lunch and dinner at different restaurants the travel agency arranged day by day while out sight-seeing. The 7 distinctive restaurants and bars of the Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Center include of course traditional German cuisine at the much loved Paulaner Bräuhaus, Japanese cuisine at Honzen, Dragon Place for Chinese cuisine, and even Italian cuisine at the Trattoria la Gondola. The thing that differentiates the Kempinski Beijing from all the others is that this is one of the few hotels in China that offers something else apart from just a typical Italian, Chinese or Japanese cuisine because that’s what all the other luxurious hotels in the market offer.

Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Centre

Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa CenterVerdict

On the whole, Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Centre is a very good hotel. All in all, I highly recommend it to anyone wishing to stay centrally at a 5-star hotel and not spend a fortune. The service and friendliness were excellent with that German efficiency. The good news s that several rooms have been by now refurbished and modernized.  Thus I recommend you to stay at the Kempinski Hotel in Beijing for all the referred reasons.
