The Torch Doha

This is our second visit here in less than a year. The Torch Doha Hotel is built in the shape of an Olympic type torch and is an incredible feat of engineering with an amazing eternal light show at night. It stands plumb and is surrounded by stadium, pitches and arenas. The interior is built around the central circular pillars –an avant-garde art! It is visible from miles away and becomes even more attractive when it shows off its lights at night. It is spectacular and guests can combine sports and leisure as they have complimentary access to the Aspire Park.

The Torch Doha

The Torch DohaAfter 3 nights of staying at the Movenpick Hotel Al Aziziyah Doha we arrived in their Limo to the Torch Doha hotel. We walked into the impressive lobby for a fairly straightforward check-in process. We had to wait a while for the room but in the meantime, we had a refreshing drink and I had a short meeting before heading up to the room. The staff was very friendly several of them I knew from our previous visit.

Room

The Torch DohaWe were escorted by Sahran to the glass elevators and up to our deluxe room #1107, where he explained about the amenities of our fancy and high-tech room. The suite was of average size, it was functional and designed to provide optimum relaxation.

The Torch DohaWe played with the iPad for a while controlling remotely almost everything. Depending on your mood, the backlighting of the bedroom changes to 12 different colours and every time we were back here, we arranged to have the colour of our preference and it was fun.

The Torch DohaThe King sized bed was extremely comfortable. From the different beds we had during our 3 week stay in Doha, this was the most comfortable of all. Wi Fi was adequate for normal Internet usage and had a reasonable speed throughout the premises.

The Torch DohaThe room has a huge double glazed wall-window but the view is obstructed by the mesh system on the outside of the structure. This is however the character of the hotel and it cannot be otherwise. Desiring an unobstructed view one may get to the 47th floor at the revolving restaurant Three Sixty.

The Torch DohaThe wardrobe was normal in size with plenty of drawers and space, and there was a safe box, a hair dryer, beautiful robes and slippers.

The first stock of the complimentary mini bar was highly appreciated. These little things like the mini bar and the great coffee machine make us really happy. The treat included a platter of fruit and unlimited water as well.

Bathroom

Breakfast

The Torch DohaThe buffet choice and quality of everything was outstanding and tastes superb. Mouna, Mari and Jane deserve an extra credit. Be sure to check the 2 exclusive articles on the Flying Carpet and the Three Sixty on the 47th floor.

The Torch DohaThroughout the stay we were impressed by the customer service, treated like VIP guests. A huge thanks goes to Claudia the communications manager who although very busy, she would call to see if everything is ok. I cannot say enough about this hospitable, delightful venue. They know well how to make guests feel important and valued.

The Torch DohaThe Torch Doha hotel is an alcohol free hotel like most hotels in Doha, but at least here there is an excuse. A big number of guests are athletes so the hotel promotes healthy alternatives -excellent mocktails, all of which yummy!

The Pool

The Torch DohaWhen you come to the pool you feel as if you are in the air. The views are marvelous, the pool is not that big but once you are here you should experience this feeling of swimming out on the 19th floor.

Connecting Walkway to the Villagio Mall

The Torch Doha

Besides the handy connecting walkway tunnel to the Villagio Mall, the surrounding area combines sports and leisure. Guests of the Torch have complimentary access to the Aspire Park -an oasis of 88-hectare precinct with running tracks and open green spaces.
