Excellent Choice!

Vienna House Andel’s Cracow happens to be the first design hotel in Poland, defined by post-modern architecture and stylish interior and is one of the most fashionable hotels in the country.

The Vienna House Andel’s Cracow has become one of the showpieces of the city since 2007. For my stays I try to spot hotels marked by character, charm, friendliness, history, style and beauty and the Vienna House Andel’s Cracow seems quite promising, not to mention its central location!

Check-in

From the moment we stepped in we felt a positive aura from its pleasant welcoming atmosphere. We were on a day’s tour to the Wieliczka Salt Mine that day and we arrived at 4:30pm. We were greeted with friendly faces and a welcome drink to get the ball rolling. In the meantime we were informed that we have been upgraded. Indeed a lovely surprise!

Artistic Interior

Vienna House Andel’s Cracow

Vienna House Andel’s Cracow certain pleases design purists as it represents a modern and artistic air of interiror. After the smooth check-in process we remained for a while chatting and getting to know the staff better. For the professional and multilingual team nothing was too much trouble and they helped in every way. In the meantime I asked for an extra bed for my friend if possible and this was arranged in minutes before we even get upstairs. It was not long before we get to 4th floor of the property to explore our suit.

Corner Suite #438

Our corner suite at the Vienna House Andel’s Cracow was remarkably spacious, in harmonious blend of colours and a fairly nice view. Functional and impeccably clean the suite had a separate corner bedroom and a large bed to sink into, with a long desk for taking care of business, and lounge. It felt so much more homely than your average hotel room.

The bedroom overlooks the other side of the street and inside the spacious wardrobe there was a safe, coffee/tea facilities and a minbar. The comfortable king-size bed at the Vienna House Andel’s Cracow, for the nights I was here I slept through without any disturbance and definitely think the sleep I got was deep, quality sleep.

  View

The several double glazed totally soundproof windows allowed ample of light in the cozy interior. Two of them overlooking the chic open space tunnel of the bus station and the surrounding buildings of the city.

Location

Vienna House Andel’s Cracow is only a 5 minute walk from the Krakow Glowny main train station which is sneakily incorporated to the Galeria Krakowska shopping mall that happens to be less than 100 metres from the entrance of the hotel. The Historical Main Square is only 400m away, as well as numerous other sights close by. With the many eateries lining the square, you will be spoilt for choice. Simply stroll the streets and soak up the atmosphere.

Complimentary treat

The quality surprise indulgence  was great and ample on both days and was highly appreciated and was accompanied with a nice card with a welcoming message from the management. A nice way to pumper guests!

Bathroom

The spacious bathroom of our corner suite was extremely functional. Three different spaces in one with  a separate cubicle for the toilet on one side and just opposite another with the walk-in shower, plus a bathtub which was in the main room along with the wash basin and a beg wall mirror.

The design of the interior, combines the strength of simple architectural form with sensual design lines and attention to detail for visual appeal. The fluffy towels were smelling freshness.

Besides the complimentary packed kit of toiletries, there was the “Ginseng & Macadamia” complete set which surprised me happily. Quality products and beautifully scented.

Breakfast

Quality choice, rich and varied with nothing missing –from excellent coffee and hot and cold dishes, pastries and juice, enough to fill you up for hours.

Dinning

The very fancy atmosphere of this delightful restaurant is an impressive example of simple elegance, original design and state-of-the-art culinary trends. Fusion cuisine based mainly on Polish and Mediterranean specialties.

We had a warm welcoming from the Chef who had personally that evening undertaken to present 3 of his choices. He joined us for a while and then left to start preparing our three course meal. It was not long when we had the amuse bouche, and an appetizer to follow.

The Roasted Fig appetizer was simply delicious. Wrapped in prosciutto ham, blue cheese and rocket salad, the Roasted Fig appetizers was not only tasty but a feast to the eyes! The Gancia Prosecco Italian wine, paired well with our starter. A pleasant sparkling wine, elegant and well balanced.

Soup

The Baby Beet chilled soup was flavoursome and yummy. Michal cleverly used a glass pot here to present his cool creation.

Main Course

If you are a pasta fan, the Open Lasagna is a must. Cooked to an absolutely precise al dente with free range chicken sous-vide with chanterelles mushrooms, green asparagus and baby spinach. Well plated and toothsome! Pairing wine, the Gruner Veltliner Krems an Austrian wine, fresh in taste and citrus-focused. The dining 3-course meal we had surpassed my expectations, while service was great and the atmosphere very relaxed.

Dessert

Impressed with the tastes, presentation and atmosphere at the restaurant of the Vienna House Andel’s Cracow, on the whole Michal’s dishes were exquisite and we enjoyed every bite. We did not realize how quickly the time passed! The Gardamon Panna Cotta with Apricot and Gooseberry mousse garnished with a sprig of basil and red currant was super yummy. The hint of spice adds a unique flavour while the glass-pot presentation made the dessert so tempting and irresistible.

Verdict

Vienna House Andel’s Cracow has everything that the business and leisure traveler would require from. It owes its unique character to the harmonious blend of three factors: the unique design, functionality and excellent quality of service. We experienced an unparalleled level of excellent service and I can’t recommend it highly enough!
