Great Location, Service & Stay!

Divani Palace Acropolis Hotel is just below the shadow of the Acropolis and only a 5 minute walk to the Acropolis Museum. The location could not have been better. The hotel can arrange a free shuttle bus to Syntagma Square during your stay. Back to Athens on a business trip and spent two amazing nights in this property, Member of the Leading Hotels of the World. I have to admit everything about my stay was superb –in fact it exceeded by far my expectations!

Entrance

Right from the entrance I was greeted by the concierge with a smile. Check-in was swift and efficient. I had arranged my arrival much earlier because of a business meeting thus luggage was carried up to the suite and after the meeting I was escorted up to the room. Divani Palace Acropolis Hotel has a gorgeous lobby with beautiful work of art, sculptured enrichment throughout. Surprisingly, guests come across a fascinating part of the Ancient Themistocles Wall which is nicely exhibited in the basement.

 Room

On this stay, I had the suite #551. The aesthetically pleasing interior of the Divani Palace Acropolis Hotel was located on the fifth floor and offered a harmonious blend of modern convenience and trendy charm. It was spacious and bright with classic touches, fine materials and comfort. Wi Fi is free however broadband Internet was under a very small fee.

The cool crisp sheets the down duvets and soft pillows as well as the extra comfy bed had an up and over bed-head canopy that provided a creative and sophisticate center-piece, much promising that ensured a peaceful sleep.

I noticed a true team spirit out here at the Divani Palace Acropolis Hotel. The staff were welcoming and responsive, trained and engrained from the top down.

I requested to see a few more types of rooms to have a whole picture of what is provided and each had its own charm with similar characteristics, classic touches, fine materials and comfort. A full-size executive writing desk and business-oriented facilities.

The hotel enjoys excellent venue for meetings, business conference and special events. Beautifully appointed and aesthetically pleasing rooms offer hi-tech features with amenities designed to support such venues.

I had a surprise indulgence the day of arrival with a fruit platter of seasonal fruit and yummy traditional home-made syrup pastries along with a welcoming card from the management. I had similar treats the other days and coffee/tea facilities were also provided, just as water.

The balcony was overlooking the neighbouring houses and the hill of Philopappos with its monument.

How I enjoyed having my cup of coffee out on the balcony of the suite!

Bathroom

Divani Palace Acropolis Hotel

The en-suite marble bathroom with a dip bathtub might not have been that spacious but was well-lit.  Along with slippers, hairdryer and robes guests can enjoy a full set of the fabulous Divani collection toiletries.

Garden Pool

The very small swimming pool in the back little garden in March provides only tranquility and ease of mind. There were tweets from birds all over the place. So many birds hiding behind the trees of the garden and staying close to the pool for water.

Breakfast

Breakfast starts at 6:15am-10:00 am and is served at the ‘Aspasia’ restaurant on the basement level.

I enjoyed an American breakfast buffet at the Divani Palace Acropolis Hotel. There was plenty of choice that included normal and healthy options, hot and cold dishes, fresh juice, cakes, fruit and everything a guest expects out of such an amazing hotel.

Restaurant

I had a few dishes from the a la carte menu and I started off with a couple of appetizers like the traditional octopus marinated in vinegar, presented with a tasty chickpea puree and glazed onions. The grilled tentacle was tender enough and yummy. The wild mushroom risotto was creamy with a nice texture and flavour. The seasonal ‘Acropolis Secret Bar Restaurant’ at the roof terrace was still closed so I could not try the cuisine. Perhaps the next time I am back!

Dessert

Go for the Cream Chocolate Mousse if you have a sweet tooth. I was not in the mood of having much that evening as I had a late lunch earlier so I was mostly nibbling out here but the mousse was good.

Verdict

In all, the Divani Palace Acropolis Hotel had all of the amenities I am accustomed to. Construction of everything was very solid. The people here know well how to make guests feel important and valued. I felt spoilt with all the care and attention and I highly recommend it. The next time you come to Athens you will have the greatest time if you visit any of the Divani properties including the Divani Apollon Palace Vouliagmeni which you must read about!
