NJV Hotel Athens Plaza is within walking distance from the wonders of Athens and Member of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts. The Acropolis, Agora, Plaka and Thission are nearby, just like upmarket boutiques, world-renowned museums and the city’s vibrant business district. Extremely popular, it is not just superb, but a great choice that justly deserves its awards. We drove to Athens that day and had to meet a busy schedule much before coming to the hotel. In reality, we couldn’t wait to check in and chill out at our room. Upon our arrival, a porter helped us by carrying the luggage indoors.

We passed through the automatic revolving-door entrance and headed to the reception desk for our check-in. Enveloped in cool, sophisticated surroundings, like repeaters at NJV Hotel, we noticed several changes on the ground floor.

The refurbished lobby is by now more inviting with new colour, new pieces of furniture and a more pleasant Feng shui. The thing that did not change though is the warmth of the friendly staff, the topnotch service that ripples through the veins of every area of hospitality which set the tone for the rest of our two-night stay.

NJV Accommodation

NJV

As far as accommodation the majority of suites flaunt of chic decorations and state-of-the-art amenities. NJV Hotel Athens Plaza provides a variation of room and suite types, from classic and superior, to junior and deluxe suites. Travellers have the choice of Economic rooms, Modern and Luxurious suites. A fully renovated, split-level Presidential Suite is available offering privacy, a dining area for 10 guests and stunning panoramic views of Athens and the Acropolis.

Checking-in the NJV

NJV

After a speedy check-in, a bell-boy loaded up our luggage on a trolley and offered to show us the way to our room. When inside, he showed us around and explained any questions about the facilities inside the room. It was everything that a check-in experience should be at a luxury hotel and the bar for service was immediately set high.

Our Superior Twin Room

NJV

Our room 529 felt like a haven away from the madness of the streets below and was one of my favourite things about the stay here. Our superior twin room was elegant and welcoming with shades of grey and black designed touches on curtains, the rug and part of the bed cover.

NJV

It might not have been one of the modern refurbished white-washed suites but it had everything to meet our needs. Serviced twice a day, it felt fresh and clean.

The twin bed was superb. Being busy outdoors the day long, I would dream of returning to the room. There was no better feeling than crashing into our bed. The sheets were silky soft, the pillows fluffy and the mattress below felt like a cloud. With none noise disruption, I was glad the room was high up to the 5th floor.

NJV

Equipped with modern amenities, coffee & tea facilities, minibar, a safety deposit box, a hairdryer, robes, slippers and an LCD satellite TV we hardly used. The NJV Hotel provides complimentary high-speed internet, but not bottled water. Perhaps because in Athens, tap water is potable.

Room Service

Room service was excellent too. Twice when we reached for this service, the team was punctual, friendly and willing to help. Two years back we visited the NJV Athens Plaza but we had a different type of room.

Our suite overlooked the Syntagma Square, part of the National Gardens and the Acropolis. Worth the extra for a room with a view!

Complimentary Treat

NJV

Upon our arrival, we received a welcome bottle of red wine with a card from the NJV management which was such a thoughtful and much-appreciated touch.

Bathroom

NJV

Average in size the marbled bathroom provided a bathtub with shower. The pressure was just the right as well as the temperature of hot water. The ladies would change the towels daily, and we could have fresh again in the evening upon request with the turndown service.

The Apivita brand toiletries is an excellent choice for that extra touch of pampering. The downside is that they provide one set for two persons when the tubes are miniature. At least there should be an extra shower gel for couples, so in our case, we requested a few extra for shower only.

The NJV Parliament Restaurant

We would take the lift to the top floor to the bright, spacious and naturally lit Parliament Restaurant. The classy interior stands out in elegance and a chic ambience. Treated to an impressive buffet breakfast made our day!

The choice embraces local delights of contemporary Greek cuisine. Breakfast lasts till 11:00 a.m. so you can indulge in your bed, check your emails, arrange your appointments at ease with no hurry.

Spoiled for choice with meat and cheese platters, pastries, yoghurt, fresh juice and amazing omelettes we had everything and even more. We would finish breakfast with some Rockford cheese and a glass of sparkling wine.

What a great way to start your day! The Restaurant remains open throughout the day offering Mediterranean dishes for lunch and dinner with an a la carte menu.
