Reception

Tournet Guest House Kraków is a  family business with 17 rooms and we stayed here two nights. Upon entering we noticed that this hotel must be popular with cyclists. There were photos of athlets on the walls, gadgets, big posters, books about cycling, even one of the oldest types. It was like entering a small bicycle museum. The tiny reception area was a bit dim but the people warm and friendly, and check in was swift.

We got the key and headed to the lift, anxious to see what the room looked like. Seeing the reception of the Tournet Guest House Kraków being so small we expected the smallest room ever. The little lobby and corridor we had to pass to get us to the lift was decorated with more books and photos of cyclists. I noticed the attention to detail as the owners care a lot for this business.

Room

To our surprise, our room at the Tournet Guest House Kraków was spacious with high ceiling and a wooden floor.  A second set of towels which was missing was brought to the room minutes after I requested for one.  At certain parts the floor surface was uneven but this was not a problem. The humble interior was clean and functional. After all, this is what matters isn’t it? We used the third bed to place all our gadgets on. Having space to walk in the room and not just space to go around the bed makes me happy.

We had a good night’s sleep and the beds were comfortable and a bit wider than others we came across in Poland. It was raining the next day and we were going to the city centre. I asked for an umbrella and the lady at the reception handed me one with a smile, reminding me that I had requested this with my booking in the case of a rainy day. Something else that counted a lot to us was that we could iron some clothes in the room. The owner offered to bring us up himself an iron board and an iron, as we were expected to get to the Olive Restaurant of the Sheraton Grand Krakow hotel that evening. There was plenty of storage-room and a small ice box but with no complimentary water in it. We only spotted the electric kettle and kitchenware late in the evening while checking the cupboards. We felt like having a cup of tea that first evening, but there were no complimentary sachets either and we did not feel like disturbing the reception at all. Had we discovered this cupboard much earlier, we could have easily request one or two from the bar or the reception. The staff but also the owner of the Tournet Guest House Kraków never once did they let us down.

Bathroom

The bathroom was small but clean with wall soap dispensers. The sliding shower-cabin door was not that stable, yet the pressure of water was that strong that made up for the door minor problem.

Breakfast

We came across this copy of a very old bicycle in the morning on our way down the flight of stairs to the breakfast room. Tournet Guest House Kraków is located 400 m from Wawel Royal Castle.

Breakfast is continental and is taken at the La Bicicletta Café.

Adequate breakfast enough to keep you full for hours.

At the back yard there is a tiny seating area where guests can sit and relax and enjoy a drink or a snack.

Verdict

In all, our short stay at the Tournet Guest House Kraków was pleasant. Counting in the exceptional service, the location and the extras we had, we can’t help but highly recommend it. Tournet Guest House offers value for money, the round area is full of restaurants, cafes and historic sights, but it is also easily accessible by public transport. Certainly worth giving it a try!
