Constantinou Bros Athena Royal Beach Hotel is an adult-focused like its sister hotel, the Asimina Suites. After my fabulous experience with the Asimina Suites in May, I was glad to be back in Cyprus and incredibly excited to spend a few more days in one of the other three hotels in the group. The fact that it was my first visit to the Athena Royal Beach Hotel, this only added to my enthusiasm and I was certain I was in the best hands regarding accommodation and Cypriot hospitality. The latter counts a lot more to me! It is safe to say you are spoiled for choice here if you truly wish to have relaxing holidays!
Although the Athena Royal Beach Hotel, is a 4*star, Constantinou Bros Hotels has created within its 4-star hotels, a class of luxurious accommodation under the categories of Superior, Superior Deluxe and the Elite Class. Thus, by booking in any of this accommodation category of the Superior Deluxe and Suite type, guests can still enjoy an unrivalled class of service, and a 5*star experience. The 208 beautifully decorated guest rooms offer majestic views of the sea or the beautiful private gardens.

First Impressions
During my stay at the Athena Royal Beach Hotel, I was blown away by the warm welcome, the small details as well as their deep understanding of world-class service. Upon entering the hotel it was very observable that the staff made the hotel.

Location
Located only 15 kilometres from the Paphos airport, I caught a taxi in Paphos and arrived at the hotel promptly for my check-in. You will be surprised how close the Athena Royal Beach Hotel is to the historic city centre, places of archaeological interest, restaurants and shops.
Checking in
The private check-in afforded a quiet and peaceful process. On arrival, my counsellor escorted me to the executive lounge on the ground floor and offered me a glass of sparkling wine. We enjoyed a pleasant chat and she did her best to make my stay more pleasant, not to mention when I requested her to accompany me in the restaurant for a snack, she did it with pleasure.

Accommodation – Elite class Suite 4441
I had no intention to venture out to explore much this time due to the high summer temperatures, but I was anxious to check into my beautiful remodelled suite which was waiting for me on the fourth floor. My bag was already carried in the room the moment I arrived, and Nikoleta my counsellor escorted me to my ‘home away from home’, their Elite Class Executive One bedroom corner suite 4441, elegant and perfectly designed to stimulate a soothing atmosphere.
The beautiful open plan suite was incredibly spacious, light and airy and allowed me to spread out and get comfortable. I felt it as my home for the days I was there. I instantly felt so comfortable that I almost spent the entire first day chilling out in the suite. As I travel more I tend to look for hotels that make me feel at ease, pleasant and in comfort, and that’s exactly how I felt at the Athena Royal Beach Hotel. The decor of my lovely suite was very simple and worked well with the location. I had a living room with a comfortable seating area, a second WC, and gorgeous views, as well as a working area.
Another great feature of this corner suite was the floor to ceiling glass that offered incredible views. You see, the whole apartment overlooks the spectacular rocky coast across the hotel. How I loved the sound of pounding surf and breaking waves!
Complimentary Treat
Α nice surprise was waiting for me in the very inviting sitting room of the suite when I stepped in. A bottle of their home red wine and a platter of seasonal fruit, but there was another surprise waiting for me in the bedroom. This time, a straw ‘beach bag’ and inside a small plastic case like a frame with a photo of the hotel, which in reality is a USB with the hotel’s photos. One day before checking-out there was another pleasant surprise, -two decorative fridge magnets!

The View from the Suite
The suite was equipped with modern amenities such as complimentary Wi-Fi/ Internet Corner Connection, two LCD satellite 32 inch TV sets and radio. You can also enjoy coffee and tea facilities in the bedroom but what made me happy was the Nespresso Coffee Maker in the sitting room. There was a mini bar, a safety deposit box, a hairdryer and ironing facilities. Some of the little details like fresh bottles of water daily and room service made my stay more enjoyable. Housekeeping is on the ball with turn down.
What was the Bedroom like?
The bedroom was also very well-appointed and welcoming, with thick curtains so you can get a good night’s sleep.
I appreciated the consistently comfortable king size bed which I had it all to myself. The pillows were huge and cosy – I often struggle to get a good night’s sleep in hotel rooms, but my sleep here was heavenly!
The wall to ceiling windows covering the whole corner-wall of the bedroom offered fabulous natural light and the massive wardrobe provided ample of storage areas.

Bathroom
The master en-suite bathroom in the Elite class one bedroom corner 4441 suite was a marble masterpiece! Spacious with a double sink vanity, a soaking Jacuzzi tub and a separate walking shower with light coming in from the frosted glass opening that faced into the bedroom.
Bathrobes and slippers, extra beach towels for the balcony and beach and a hairdryer. On the counter, you will discover a selection of the Olivia brand toiletries.
But, what is there to do?
The hotel has put their efforts into keeping their guests entertained by providing plenty of leisure facilities and daytime and evening activities.
The Coast and the Cabanas
You will love the 3 in all freshwater free shape gorgeous swimming pools, the indoor Jacuzzi and indoor pool as well as the private cabanas. They make sure every type of person can enjoy some fun in the sun. I always enjoy lounging by my cabana, while hearing the waves crashing onto the shore.

What is the Beach Like?
The rugged rocky coast across the Athena Royal Beach Hotel is affected a lot by the wind. The private jetty which is under supervision will help you skip the rocks and dive into deep crystal waters. For shallow waters, a two-minute-walk on the right would take you to a small sheltered bay.
Onsite Restaurants
There are 3 in all restaurants serving Breakfast but I had mine taking full advantage of the breakfast buffet of Pygmalion Restaurant which stands exclusively for Superior and Suites and is open from 08:00 – 11:00.
I was impressed with the great selection of breakfast each morning. The focus is on providing delicious, healthy options and serving yummy, fresh, good-quality food.

The Cypriot Theme Night
It took place in the garden by the pool. I loved the atmosphere, local dances and singing and enjoyed the lovely show the evening round.
The Cypriot Theme Night was a joy for me as a Cypriot, but for all the guests. Food was tasty, dessert as well and the staff, discreet and the friendliest ever!
Cooks behind their grill-stands helped guests try the different mouthwatering grilled options and at the other end of the garden other cooks are busy preparing ‘Loukoumades’ similar to doughnuts. The service throughout the evening was exceptional.
Olive Tree Restaurant
Located by the pool and overlooking the sea it is the ideal place to enjoy a leisurely lunch or a delicious selection of light meals and fresh salads, snacks and desserts while sipping on your favourite drink.
I was on my own that second evening at the Olive Tree restaurant to try the cuisine of the Chef. My table, nicely set was overlooking the pool and Christos performing live with his guitar. I could spend the whole night sitting out there.
I started off with a variety of appetizers of my choice that I chose from the assortment selection of salads and cold dishes. The fabulous tastes with every bite, the lovely selection of songs that Christos sang for us with his stunningly beautiful voice, and great service, carried me away and created the perfect atmosphere.
As Cypriot myself, I chose my wine to be local that evening, opted for a classic sparkling dry white wine with a delicate aroma and pleasant crisp taste.
Soup
The Tomato Soup of the night was extremely rich in flavour with the silkiest texture ever! From the chat I had with the Sous Chef, he promised to prepare especially for me his Mushroom soup. As a picky eater, I couldn’t wait to taste it as mushroom soups are my best favourite.
For my main entrée, my choice was the Moussaka of Mushrooms and truffle oil. The dish was executed perfectly and was delicious in every way with that earthy-spicy flavour of truffles.
I finished off with a glass of dessert wine and a nice presentation of seasonal fruit.
Aphrodite A la carte Restaurant – the View
The location of the diner of the Aphrodite a la carte restaurant was superb. I reserved a table overlooking the pool for two that evening, expecting a friend to join me. The main lounge of the Pygmalion Restaurant, nicely decorated with lovely food presentations had a great variety of choice. You will never leave hungry out here for sure! If I knew the choice of the buffet was such good, I could perhaps skip the a la carte and go for the buffet choice as we were slightly disappointed with the main course choice we had.
Soup
The soup had almost crunchy texture, with a little kick of chilly just perfect. I could use a thousand words to describe it, but one thing for sure is: you MUST try it!
Main course
For a main, I had the Salmon and my friend a filet of Sole fish. Mine was ok, but it did not get me excited to add more, while my friend’s choice, unfortunately, had not the expected quality or taste.
The service, friendly –service with a smile and the atmosphere relaxed. We accompanied our meal with a sparkling Rose wine. For the finale, we skipped anything sweet and had fruit instead. On the whole, the experience was quite good, although not everything had us singing.
The Verdict
The Constantinou Bros Athena Royal Beach Hotel offered me everything I was looking for and so much more! I left the hotel feeling fully relaxed and appreciative. If you are planning a trip to Paphos and looking for a great recommendation on where to stay, you cannot go past the Athena Royal Beach Hotel for value, comfort and location.
