Guesthouse Vasiliki in Evia Usually, in June, we commonly dream of summer destinations with sand and sea but have you ever thought about trading them for a mountain retreat?  The sunshine is just as likely to shine, and the skies are just as blue, but you’ll have an entirely different kind of holiday in store. In such a case, opting for boutique hotels or guesthouses in smaller towns or villages is always a good idea. Rooted in destination, quite often offer a more authentic and at times charming snapshot of the place you are visiting.

With its traditional air, the well-designed suite was really lovely, finished to a high standard. The ground floor featured an open plan with heating, air conditioning and a fireplace, a flat-screen TV, a small fridge and a sleek, comfortable sleeper sofa.

Opposite the entrance by the hall, a wooden staircase led to the attic. Our cosy bedroom enjoyed the most breathtaking view from up there.

Breakfast was excellent and could keep you full for hours. The breakfast restaurant feels light, bright and airy and we enjoyed quality traditional Greek variety; local thick yoghurt, French toast, homemade marmalades and cookies as well as pure local honey, pies and fresh seasonal fruit.
