Meze by Elliniko is the signature restaurant of The Royal Apollonia Hotel in Limassol and specializes in Traditional Greek Cuisine. I was here in the capacity of a food critic to try some of the newest dishes the Chef and cooks prepared exclusively for us.

The main dining room mostly in winter is charming and nicely decorated and has an airy feel to it, and tables well-spaced. In our case though, we walked through, directly to the terrace.

Olga, who is a professional and the supervisor here, welcomed and showed us to our reserved table.

We started off with the amuse bouche -very important to start the meal with a great first bite! We accompanied our meal with a light white wine which I chose to be local.

Soup

I love all kinds of soups in general. Well, the Fish Bouillon Wild Salmon, Scallops Mussels Soup deep in flavour was extremely tasty!

Appetizers

The Seafood Tartar Octopus, baby Calamari, marinated Prawns was mouthwatering! There were different flavours here, but the octopus and the rest of the seafood were tender, and the other flavour elements combining quite well.

As our meal progresses, we have the Pan Seared Manouri with pumpkin seeds, kumquat and berries.

Nicely presented, the cheese stands on the pomegranate and berry sauce, surrounded by tiny bits of fruit and veggies. The savoury flavour of each bite relishes a different taste. It is a dish you ought to try for sure!

Greek Salad

The Greek Salad sprinkled with a virgin olive oil, Feta cheese, tomatoes and cucumber was fresh, perfectly lemony and delicious.

We had time to relax in between enjoying a few sips of wine contemplating the sea and the starred sky over a friendly chat. Bearing in mind that almost all tables were reserved, the service was exceptional and the staff extremely friendly. A Green Apple Sorbet next makes a great palate cleanser, to keep the meal on course. In the meantime, the food kept getting better and better as the meal continued.

Main Course

I opted for fish and had the Broiled Sea Bass, a stunning dish with intense flavours. I bet it can be a hit for any guest!

My friend had the Lamb Shank -slow cooked with Carob sauce. She found the meat tenderly juicy and seeing that she had finished her dish I am sure she must have enjoyed it. I find it difficult to write down the winning dish as I can’t recall one bite that was not lovely. The three best though could be the Glazed Scallops, the Pan Fried Manouri and the Broiled Sea Bass.
