Value and Location!

The Tatra Chalet Zakopane is located in a lovely quiet green area at the foot of Gubalowka Mountain only 15 minute walk from the very popular Krupówki Street. The Tatra Chalet was my first choice in Zakopane. A small private charming hotel with 7 in all fully equipped suites that for special cases it can even be rented exclusively. Tatra Chalet perfectly complements the Highlander architecture of the Podhale region. The style was extremely interesting, the interior relaxed and pleasant, decorated with colours.

Warm Welcome

We arrived at the Tatra Chalet Zakopane promptly coming from Krakow that day and we had a warm welcome.  Check in was swift and efficient. Throughout the stay we enjoyed excellent personalized service, and nothing was too much for any of the staff. At this point we were looking forward to check if our suite would meet our expectations.

Suite Cicha Woda

The suite was beautifully appointed named “Silent Water” or “Cicha Woda” in Polish. You see, suites here are given names of places in the Tatras and the surrounding natural beauty.

It suite was spacious and on two levels, fitted with stylish functional furnishings and decorative elements. It was spotlessly clean with a Savoy classic king-sized bed with duvet covering and pillows that presented a state of constant serenity.

Linens were bright, spotless and fragrant and I was so glad I could have it all to myself! There was plenty of storage, a safe, scales and a hair dryer.

Complimentary treat of fruit, upon arrival, sparkling and still water on both evenings and Cupcakes in the afternoon. Thank you Tatra Chalet Zakopane!

Tatra Chalet Zakopane

Getting up in the morning and realizing that we were so close to the woods it was an experience I never had before. Beautiful countryside to be explored and nice walks straight out of the doorstep. How I wished I had a few more days to stay here at the Tatra Chalet Zakopane! I can’t fault anything and turn-down and housekeeping were great too. Wi Fi connection was complementary and also fast.

The chic and stylish bathroom of our suit at the Tatra Chalet Zakopane had separate toilet and shower cabinets and was on the upper level opposite the big wardrobe by the corridor. Top line pampering!  Toiletries were ample and of great quality. I have several times come across this English brand –the White Company.

Jacuzzi and Sauna

With such beauty around we did not bother use the sauna or the Jacuzzi preferring to enjoy the outdoor beauty of Zakopane instead. The only downside is that the outdoor Jacuzzi is really small and the photos on the web are a bit misleading. At least I was mislead myself. The way the photo of the Jacuzzi with the little candles shows on the website of the Tatra Chalet Zakopane, gives the picture of something big.

For the cold winter nights, for guests staying at the Tatra Chalet Zakopane, there is also a nicely decorated sitting room with fireplace. I found none other hotel so close to nature, steps from the woods, so if you love nature that much, the Tatra Chalet Zakopane could be a good choice. While here we relaxed and recharged our batteries through the positive energy and the beauty of the landscape.

We appreciated a lot the nicely set buffet with several local products and warm courses. It was adequate and kept us full for hours. Everything was freshly cut, and tasty and the service excellent.

Expect traditional culinary style with modern twist at the restaurant of the Tatra Chalet Zakopane. We dined indoors at the tranquility of the restaurant away from noise and crowds, and we enjoyed top notch service and tasty dishes. I was here in the capacity of a food critic and had the opportunity to taste almost the entire set menu either as my own choice or nibble from my friend’s choices. Dishes in general were interesting, tasty and well presented. We had an amuse bouche, the treat from the Chef of the Tatra Chalet restaurant before we get to the starters and was highly appreciated.

We started off with the Beef Fillet “Carpaccio” and the Tartar of Trout. Both were a delight!

The appealing Green Asparagus soup is a ‘must try’! Mellow creamy soup with grated almonds and herb mousse! Our second choice was the Smoked Trout and Cheese. Light, delicate and yummy!

Main course

We accompanied the main dish here at the Tatra Chalet Zakopane restaurant with an Italian white. The Pinot Grigio, -light and refreshing for several, but the least favourite of mine!

The Halibut fish (catch of the day) served with fresh chanterelles and fresh broad bean. Succulent and toothsome! Definitely worth giving it a try! My friend’s first choice, the sheep milk Dumplings flavoured with mint. Another traditional Polish dish, -not one of my favourite but my friend loved it.

The Grilled Rack of Lamb, a traditional dish, nicely presented was juicy and quite tasty but  I can’t say it was my piece of cake. We enjoyed the Chateaw Greysac red ruby-garnet wine with its pleasant and rich flavour the second evening.

The Beef Filet steak ‘sous vide’ was Margo’s second choice. It was tasty and juicy from one or two bites I had. “Remarkably good” was my friend’s comment!

Both desserts at the Tatra Chalet Zakopane restaurant were ambrosial. The Chocolate Lava cake was super yummy and I urge you to try it when here, but also the Tiramissu is not to be missed. Big thumbs up to both!

I whole heartily recommend the Tatra Chalet Zakopane. It is a unique choice for romantic getaways, short family holidays, even for business. I can’t think of a better place to rejuvenate, only steps from nature! I am back home by now and remember clearly every square, every detail of the room, the gardens, the great service and the cuisine. I highly recomend it, and long to be back!
