The Sorokos Fagopoteion in Kymi sits right at an excellent coastal location 100 metres after the entrance of the port of Kymi and happens to be a favourite of several of our closest friends who urged me to include it on this visit to Kymi, so I did, and it did not disappoint. The outdoor seating overlooks the clear turquoise water of the bay, while the big solid white umbrellas that cover the entire outdoor space make the restaurant stand out among the rest in the area. We were here for seafood, well aware that everything served is meant to be fresh. This time, I would accompany Ouzo with regular servings, contrary to what we had the night before at The Restaurant To Aigaio in Kymi, with portions similar to tapas.

Seafood Appetizers and Salad

We started off with the Prawn Saganaki, which is a must when you go out for Ouzo, and nothing else can beat it. It is a classic Greek Meze at its best. We loved every bite here at the Sorokos Fagopoteion in Kymi. In some way, this dish is the Aegean islands on a plate as it uses the Greek feta cheese with the national Ouzo drink in combination with tomato, to praise the noble prawn.

Our second choice was a combination of flavours and textures! The fried cheese was given to the crunchy coat of lightly browned sesame seeds, and a drizzle of honey was an excellent light appetizer. The Fried Prawns were equally tasty, nicely presented and were tenderly juicy and yummy! The Greek Traditional Mixed Salad freshly cut, sprinkled with local virgin olive oil, had a flavour that remained in the air even after you have it all.

The Mussels’ dish was swimming in flavour thanks to the rich, creamy, garlicky and herb mussel sauce. A delight you shouldn’t miss!

An extra treat was the last delicacy of the Sorokos Fagopoeion in Kymi. I never could imagine that I would like that much the pickled mackerel, the ‘kolios’ fish in Greek. The taste was out of this world just as the Mussel dish, my two favourites on this visit!

Time flies when you have a good time! We must have been here for almost 4 hours, and we were the first to come to the restaurant and nearly the last to leave; earlier, two more tables were occupied, but it was not a busy night, so I had the luck to learn about the catch of the day, the flavours, tips about seafood, and more, from Alexandros, the owner of the Sorokos Fagopoteion who joined us that night.

The Dessert at the Sorokos Fagopoteion in Kymi

We only requested one portion for the girlie I had along, a kind of syrup pastry accompanied by some ice cream. On my part, I did not want to mix ouzo and the exquisite tastes of meze with anything else.

Bottom Line

The Sorokos Fagopoteion in Kymi is another top restaurant in the area that is highly recommended. From the tastes to the service, atmosphere and the view, the restaurant ticks all the boxes.
